Spilt sheath cartridge heaters are tubular heaters that have been formed in to a half circle then folded in the middle with the two halves now making a circle.
Great Source Cartridge Heaters use a unique, patented split-sheath design that allow the heater to expand when energized to maximize heat transfer through greater contact with the wall of the bore. Better heat transfer means less power is consumed to maintain the set point temperature, reducing operating costs.
The split sheath insertion heaters are specially designed for platen, die, or mold applications with holes that are poorly drilled or worn with age. Each section expands independently for optimum contact with the walls of the hols.
